It's Party Time!

It's Sunday, August 14, 2011 approximately 5:00 PM and Jim Lindner's throwing a party! Many of the workers who were involved with the renovation are there as well as some former members of St. Mark's. It is also the 110th anniversary year for this building. I was there and finally got to meet Jim in person and see the finished results - quite impressive! Some of the pictures I took and some (where indicated) were contributed by Anthony Corkum.

First, let's have a look around outside.

St. Mark's Place is the new name.

Now, let's go inside. >>>

We're a little early so let's have a look around. We'll head out to what used to be the Sunday School room. The tables are set up waiting for the food.

Above, looking clockwise around the room in order of top left, top right, center left, centre right, bottom left. Bottom right is the new access into the attic area. St. Mark's members will remember that the original access was through one of the square panels in the ceiling near the right front of the church - very difficult location needing a very l-o-n-g ladder!

There was a "pot luck" buffet meal and the ladies were hard at work in the new kitchen setting out the food.

The ladies of St. Mark's who worked so hard in years past in their very small kitchen preparing for the church suppers would have loved to have had this kitchen!

Top Left: Portion of the wall between the church and the Sunday School room. This was an exterior wall before the Sunday School room was extended years ago to build the original kitchen. It is now just outside the new bathrooms. The wall has been left exposed to show the original construction.
Top Right: One of the three bathrooms. This is the large bathroom and includes a shower area.
Bottom Left: Shower area.
Bottom Right: One of the other two bathrooms. Note the large boards above the wainscotting. These are the seats from some of the pews that were along the walls.

People are arriving and it looks like we're about to begin the festivities.

First a few words from our host ...

There was food, and there was a special cake.
