On Sunday, October 2, 2005, the congregation of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Middle LaHave, Nova Scotia held their final service.

This picture was taken following the final service (photographer unknown.)

Left to right: Eli Banfield, Rev. Willis Ott, Barry Parks, Ruth Corkum, Shirley Banfield, Rev. Susan Johnson, Deborah Wentzell and Anthony Corkum

With declining membership over the years, eventually a time came when there were no longer enough members to continue and a decision was made to officially disband the congregation.

The building was purchased by a new owner in 2009 and underwent major renovations. You can follow the sequence as the work was done on the "A New Beginning" pages in the menu above left (or click here).

What's New?

January 2012 - For the past two years this web site has been hosted free by Microsoft Office Live. Microsoft has decided to discontinue the Office Live program. I will have to find another location for this web site. I will probably relocate it to the same hosting service that I use for my personal web site. However this will mean there will be some advertising appearing at the top of each page since I will continue to use free hosting service. (No advertising was a nice feature of Microsoft's site.)

I spent a lot of hours over Christmas holidays on this and I've just about finished rebuilding a new web site. It will look almost identical with a few small improvements (I think). I now know that the final date for this site is April 30, 2012.

I will have the new site uploaded long before that date - I think there will be a slight change in the site name - and I'll post further information here when available.

Jan 26 - New pages in the Ministers section all now updated here.

St. Mark's Lutheran Church was one of three congregations in the Rose Bay Lutheran Parish of the Eastern Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada. (The other congregations are St. Matthew's in Rose Bay and St. John's by the Sea in Feltzen South.)

This web site has been placed here to preserve some pictures and history of the church.

If you want to download any picture for your personal use from this web site, I don't think any of the contributors would mind.
