Renovations (Installment #6)

Although few will ever see it, a Catwalk has been installed in the ceiling so that it is safe to walk there for maintenance. Note the original wiring - this has all been de-energized.

Part of the new electrical system - this is a "pony panel" which is an additional electrical distribution panel on the sunday school side of the building. Most of the wiring you see is for the kitchen and bathrooms.

A crane is required to roof the steeple. A great deal of thought and discussion has gone into this entire process. Crane time is charged by the hour so even the process to roof it planned. The black stripes are reminiscent of the original design seen on the old photographs. The new roof should gleam in the sun as an important architectural element.

Getting there. The weather has to be right for roof installation. You may have noticed that the chimney is now gone. That is because the new heating system is very efficient and can be vented through the side of the building leaving the look of the roof much cleaner. The chimney has been removed but in some of the former chimney space is a channel to run theatrical control wires for the lighting, sound, and computer systems.
